Joe Jackson Omaha Concert reviews
Star Wars at its best
For my son's 11th birthday, I took the enthusiastic Joe Jackson-fanatic to see the concert. This was just as much for me, of course, as I was 10 when the movie came out. We got seats not too far away from the stage on the floor. The stage layout was interesting and includes a beautiful screen for the movie clips and sometimes video of the orchestra itself. In our venue, the floor seats had the advantage of sitting straight on, but height of people in front of us made it hard for my son to see.
As MC, Anthony Daniels gave a wonderful performance, giving life to the narrations and tying the segments together. The orchestra and choir were fantastic. I've heard most of this music for over 30 years, but nothing compares to hearing it live from a full orchestra. From the power of the music, to the delicate oboe and harp, it was well worth every penny.
After the intermission, we moved to empty side seats just a couple of rows up, and the rest of the show was wonderful. The costume and prop displays were not as extensive as I would have liked, but well laid out with backdrops to use for photographs. Our performance was accompanied by the 501st Star Wars costume group, which greatly added to the atmosphere.
